Default Young Couple seeking fun, affordable town northwest of Boston

My boyfriend and I are wondering if there are any towns like Northampton, MA northwest of Boston. He has a job in Northborough, and I'll probably work in Boston. Every town we've been to so far do not seem to have any restaurants/nightlife at all. Any recommendations?

Can't think of any. Not much fun out this way. Maybe better to live in town, near the Pike, and go against traffic to Northborough.

Nashua, N.H. your money will go further and if you can telecommute you will not be required to pay Ma. income tax on the days you work from home.
