What are the best neighborhoods in Quincy for a couple with a baby?

All of Quincy is fairly decent for couples with young children but North Quincy and Wollaston are probably most affordable and most convenient with easy to access rapid transit stations and supermarkets nearby. West Quincy is pricier and the neighborhoods of Squantum, Hough's Neck, and Quincy Point are further away but you do have the seaside to enjoy. Be careful with Quincy Center. It is decent but has a lot of traffic during the daytime which may pose an inconvenience for baby strollers but then again is not a big problem.

I have friends who live in Wollaston and love it. They live on a lovely tree lined street a few blocks from the ocean and walking distance to the T.

I live in West Quincy and it is nice however I have to agree with scarletfire regarding Wollaston. When my kids were small we lived there for 11 years. She is right about the tree lined streets and close to the beach. It has gotten quite congested and is becoming an Asian community.
Very diverse city.

Is Wollaston being a predominantly Asian community a good thing or a bad thing to you?

Our friends are now considering an apartment on Spear St. It was previously used as a "lodging house" for teenagers under the care of the state and has now been renovated (#32). We are concerned because there are other "lodging houses" on Spear St, including the Caritas home at 50-56 Spear St. What are your thoughts about Spear St for a couple with a baby? Thanks!

Our friends (married couple with a baby) have decided against the apartment on Spear St.
They are now looking at one on Harvard St. near Beale St. They were told that it's a nice area but that Harvard is a busy street. How busy is it? Busy enough to be a dealbreaker?
Thanks!
