Default Cape to Nantucket..Good fried clams??

We'll be making a beeline to the Hyannis ferry to Nantucket, but on the way back we'd like to hit a good fried clam place. Any suggestions?

Oh, coastal, that would be fun. I thought you lived in Maine. duh. I don't know what our schedule will be like. We're going to Nantucket for a wedding in September. Will go over on Friday afternoon sometime and back on Sunday. Either on Friday or Sunday, depending, is my clam window of opportunity. Ideally, I'll get them on Nantucket since we'll have Friday night and most of Saturday before the wedding.

Okay.... we'll see what your dates are and what I'm up to then... whether I'm in Maine in my 5th wheel or here on the Cape. If you're full of clams by the time we meet, we can have something else entirely! lol I won't hold you to the clam dinner only!!!

(Re my name... I have lived here 30 years, but have loved the coast of Downeast Maine since I first saw it in 84, and that is how I found CD... doing research on the net for properties up there. Didn't know there was a whole forum such as there is!)

The coast of Maine is stunning. Haven't been in a while but my favorite was Boothbay Harbor. Stayed at a B&B called the Red Lion (or "something" Lion) that was wonderful. Can't blame you for wanting to be there Coastal.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know if Kate's in Dennis is still open? I used to love their fried Scallops (not to mention some ice cream). I used to stop by there after fishing on my grandfather's boat out of Sesuit Harbor.

Do you mean Kate's Ice Cream in Brewster? If you mean Kate's on the way to Paine's Creek, it's open as far as I know. Usually opens the first weekend in May. I haven't driven by it recently, but I can check it tomorrow for you.

If you mean Kate's in Dennis.... I don't know where it was. You'd have to give me some idea of what was around it, so I'd be able to figure out where you mean as I'm not aware of another food place called Kate's down here.

I saw your address change. Good luck to you!!

You're right, I meant Brewster. I really liked their fried Scallops.

Thanks so much for going out of your way! I was with some friends in Brewster last weekend and wondered about it but never got to get over there. Maybe next time.

I did make the move into Boston and love it. This is where I need to be (for now anyway, I may get the opportunity to go study in Paris, Prague or Amsterdam during grad school which I will jump at, but for now, I'm thrilled. Thanks again for making that effort for me!
