Default Moving to the West Springfield Area

Hello,

I currently live in Fort Mill, SC and I am starting a new job in West Springfield,MA. We have been looking at houses in Longmeadow, Southwick, and Westfield. I have a daughter who will be starting her senior year of high school. She is currently enrolled in a culinary program at her high school called Pro Start. We have checked and there are no Pro Start Schools anywhere close to the area. Does any one know of a high school with a good culinary program in the area. She plans on going to Johnson & Wales after she graduates, so going to a HS with a good program is a priority.

Thanks for your help!

Lisa

Our local vo tech schools have the culinary arts programs for the most part. I think this is the one in the area you are looking at: Welcome to Lower Pioneer Valley Career and Technical Education Center

I also like Southwick

Longmeadow has good High School sports
not sure about how the town itself is

I would say Southwick or Northhampton

western mass and love it will become famous soon enoughwestern mass and love it will become famous soon enough
i would look in West Springfield itself , there is the school casey b suggested above, there is also dean tech in holyoke that i am pretty sure has a culinary program.West Springfield is mostly suburban, sits right across the river from springfield and has all the major highways running through it. it is a safe little city of around 30,000 residents, low crime rate and halfway decent schools.like most of massachusets the housing prices are a little high but nothing compared to the eastern half of the state(where house prices are astronomical).I have nothing against southwick,it is just very rural and not very close to anything. Northhampton is a nice city but once you leave the city itself it is mostly little hilltowns.but the city itself has plenty do in it.and it also has smith voc, which is a vocational high school.
