Aren't there some juguandles along route 1 north of Boston? I know there are a bunch in Rhode Island's south county area, but I think there are some in MA too, just not as many. Found them to be convenient especially in the Princeton NJ area (have family there) on Route 1 though I see little difference between them and a left turn lane.

I'm not a big fan of left hand turns unless the light allows left hand turns alone for the first few seconds. You have to be really aggressive to make a left hand turn in front of oncoming traffic at a busy intersection. I have no problem being aggressive about that, but I die a thousand deaths when I'm stuck behind someone who can't manage it.
