Default School districts in Springfield suburbs

We are in the very early stages of looking at a possible move to western MA. Our primary concern is schools but we're also drawn to small towns. Our son is dyslexic and our current school has an inclusion approach where reading specialists are in the class in small groups as opposed to pulling kids out. We'd like to focus on districts known for good special ed.

I've spent lots of time in Northampton and love the feel of it but the people I know there don't have kids so can't give me a good read on the schools. I'm also interested in Amherst and open to suggestions.

I know Longmeadow has solid schools but it feels more like a suburb than the small town feel of N'hampton or Amherst.

TIA

East Longmeadow has one of the best special education programs around.

It's a nice town too.
