Default Politically/socially cities/towns in E. Mass? (relatively speaking)

Hi all,

Wondering if any of the locals can help me out: what are some of the more politically/socially conservative areas in Eastern Mass, say inside 495? (I know when it comes to political/social suff it's all relative in a state like MA) I'm looking for places that are a little more buttoned down. Any thoughts are much appreciated as always. Thanks!

That thread turned into a mud slinging lib vs con fight. I'm a conservative so I think I can shed some light on some towns for you. You are going to be be a good distance from boston to have any common sense politics.

Middleboro/Carver/Lakeville come to mind, thats cranberry country and still very agricultural based with lots of land and the more conservative atmosphere that goes along with rural areas. I sometimes feel like I'm not in the peoples republic of Ma when I am up in Middleboro visiting my friends who drive large lifted trucks, hunt without being harassed and what not.

Mashpee/Sandwich are towns on the cape which have large military populations due to Otis Air Base/Camp Edwards/CG Station Cape Cod being right next door. I think sandwich or mashpee was one of a few towns to vote for GWB in the 04 elections.

Anyways theres my $0.02

Yes, that thread did devolve into quite the mudslinging contest!

Thanks for sharing your two cents. Good to hear recommendations from a fellow conservative. I'm originally from Massachusetts and want to move back to start my family, but being in as "sane" a place as possible is very important to me.

Out of the towns you mentioned, which one would you say has the easiest access into Boston, either via highway or the T?

Thanks again!

^Middleborough/Lakeville. They already have the T to South Station from a station right on the town lines (about 1 mile from Middleborough Center) and both towns are along I-495 near the Route 24 interchange. Other parts of Lakeville are closer to 140 right near the 24 interchange. Lakeville has a more suburban/exurban feel (with some rural spots interspursed) and Middleborough is more rural with a nice (but slightly decayed) town center. I would agree with the notion that these areas are probably more conservative than you'll find most anywhere else in MA. It's worth noting that Lakeville has better schools than Middleborough so if a family is in the future, keep that in mind.
