Good luck with the move. I just saw your original post and I have to tell you Abington is not a conservative town by any means. I think you will find the town as a whole to be fairly tolerant but there is very little diversity and a very Irish/Catholic flavor. The town's sports teams are called "The Green Wave" because of that population.

Also since you are homeschooling, that is a plus. A recent override just failed and an elementary school is closing.

My wife and I moved to RI from Flagstaff three years ago (I grew up in MA, and if the RI job market continues to be as comatose as it has been, we might end up back in MA. The Providence job market isn't much better than Flagstaff, which is to say, basically almost Great Depression levels of hiring inactivity -- well, I exaggerate, but not that much!).

Abington might work okay, in terms of the commute if your husband can go in WAY early, before the traffic on I-93 gets too ridiculous. I wouldn't want to try it at the peak of rush hour, but if his employer is flexible about that, it'll do. Much better than Worcester!

I hope you like humidity! In AZ, I started having trouble with my eyes because it was so dry. Here, not a problem.....

Urb

Ugh. Abington is nice but that commute to Everett will get O.L.D. fast.....I wish you luck. I want to move from Cape Cod to AZ - total opposite of another poster on here - too funny, huh?

Well, we are here...going on our third week. DH is already getting tired of the commute. The drive there is great...only 30-40 min...but the drive home is a killer 1.5-2 hours...UGH! His boss *is* flexible and they are adjusting his hours so he leaves at 4 instead of 4:30. He made it home in 50 min today. Hope that keeps up.

Heat/Humidity...I have to say...I MUCH prefer this humidity to the scorching AZ heat!!! I also love that I no longer have to use a bucket of lotion and conditioner.

Abington is ok...kinda rude folks here though...rough around the edges. Yeah...VERY catholic. The roads...they all seem to bustle. Is there such a thing as a quiet street here?

Abington does seem to be somewhat of a cut through doesn't it? The area down near the state park is nice and very quiet. Rough around the edges is a good description of people from the area. There is a definately a fierce sense of hometown pride which borders on fanatical....... just wait until the St. Patrick's Day parade. You will see for yourself.

Ohhhh...my DH will love that! He is Irish and has a strong, odd, loyalty to his heritage. The Irish and Jewish...Yeah...totally insanely loyal and heritage proud...it's built in the DNA
