Hello all,

As some of you may know we are planning on relocating to the GBA in the summer. I was wondering if anyone could give us a rough estimate on how much you pay for your basic utilities. We will be renting an apartment at first and it would just be two of us in aprox a 1000-1300 sq foot place.

So how much is the average cost of heat, water, electricity, etc...? Thanks for all your help in advance.

There is no straight answer to that. There are many old houses/apartments which obviously cost more to heat than a new building. Then there is oil/gas/electric/wood options..

As mention, it depends....

Cable TV.. $15-$100 depend on programing
Internet - $10-$50 dial up, DSL or High Speed.
Phone - $25-50 depend on service area.
For most people, the 3 above are about $100.

Electricity - $50-100. (more if you use air conditioning $3-5/day or if you have electric heat.)

Water is usually free if you are renting an apartment.
Heat - $200-$500/month depend on how high you set your thermostat in the winter, if you use to heat hot water, how long your showers are, the outside temperature,...

Many apartments do include heat and hot water. Usually electricity, cable TV and phone are yours.

Good luck.
