Default Looking At Real Estate In Revere

Hello All,

I am a 30 year old bachelor that just saw a small 2 bedroom house for sale in Revere on Henry Street. It is located off Revere Beach Blvd right near Winthrop. I know Revere has some areas to avoid but I am not familiar with this area. Is it safe? What are the people like?

Thanks!

please check out rates with insurance, which is costly! I lived in Boston, and did go to the beach there
way back! Get an appraisal, etc., check taxes, etc. good luck! Also, if near your work, and you love the beach, it may work!

Take a ride around the neighborhood on a Friday and Saturday evening to see what's going on. You can also call the local police department to see what kind of calls they get from that neighborhood and how frequent they are.

Default Thanx

I like the idea of calling the police to see what it is like around there. I drove around there today and it seemed ok. Maybe not a place to bring kids up though.

I agree with Cathy- definitely take a ride around Revere on a Friday or Saturday night. From what I've been told, staying away from anywhere off of Revere Beach Blvd. is a good idea. Also, the public schools in Revere aren't that great. I had a classmate who did her student teaching there and she said the population is very, very transient and the schools aren't the greatest.

If you want to stay on the North Shore close to Boston and the beach, I'd suggest trying Lynn, Malden, or Saugus.

My advice to you is to be very careful when you buy something. Once you buy it, it's YOURS. Period. Until you go to sell it or try to rent it out. If you have the money, ability, and can commute, I'd say try for a stronger school system that's still close to Boston.

I know you said you're a bachelor now; are you planning on getting married and having kids in the near future? If so, you're going to want to be in an area with parks, playgrounds, good schools, etc. There's a ton to think about when you're buying a home- don't just go on price!

Hope this helps

Thanx so much! I am not sure if I will stay a bachelor forever but I may be for awhile. I did contact the police and they couldn't give much info out but a police officer did say he never responded to call there in all 12 years of his employment history. I live in Lynn now but was told Revere is a step up. Judging by crime stats I would have to agree with that.
