Default If you build them ---money will come (Casinos in MA)

I say build the casinos--
I think they will create jobs, construction and longer term jobs hospitality wise

and will bring revenue into the state.

I think it would help tremendously in these tough economic times

It's a dead issue. They're not going to get built. The support for it isn't there in this economy or within the Mashpee tribe. Thank-God.

They ever do get built, the idiots in the state house in Boston will find a way to blow the money on social programs, not improving the infrastructure of the state. And forget about the revenue received EVER giving us a reduction in our taxes. That NEVER happens... unless you have a republican governor or live in Alaska. lol

Temporarily it would create some construction jobs but the casinos themselves aren't wouldn't bring in high paying jobs anyway, just more of a burden on already overly congested roads.

Yes, they need to consolidize and remove bloat... just as any middle manager would be required to do in a large corporate business. A small business would generally not last long enough (due to cash flow being destroyed) to have bloat grow to the degree it does in government.

I'm not against a casino as I believe the government should have no control over whether or not we can have gambling. We already have the lottery and all the other government gambling...but not private gambling, that would just be wrong. I guess the government only thinks gambling is wrong if they are not running it.

I do agree with others that the revenue the state would get would just get wasted and also that doesn't always great high paying jobs...but those are different issues.

Default Casinos

What I mean is ---

You hear all the time about contests, ads, etc. about events and such going on at Foxwoods--Mohegan sun, Twin River. and people actually do go down to these places a lot and spend a weekend or something, many of them from Mass. - now if we had casinos resorts like foxwoods, etc. with say sports-arenas/concert halls and more. - it would become a destination, the same way Patriot Place in Foxboro has become a destination - not just for sports anymore.

I think it would benefit the small towns by bringing people into the region to shop, explore the towns, stay at the casinos and enjoy the area. - I think boston could benefit by having Riverboat casinos on the charles river, say at the museum of science or lechemere---by the cambridge galleria or something and in the Boston harbor over by the Seaport District or something. -

I think it would bring in more revenue than you can imagine

Republicans don't cut spending and taxes either, which is why I am an Independent. Anyone who sides with either party and thinks that any of these fools do any good is severely misguided.

For example all those so called "Conservative" Republicans who hold Reagan as their hero that claim that he cut taxes, when he had ONE tax cut that was offset by 7 tax hikes! Republican, Democrat, all the same to me.

You're mixing state politics with federal. Two different beasts. The republican governors have all done good things in office despite being handtied by democrats in the state house. They equalized the politics was my point.

We have destinations. They're called Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, and Boston. They come and spend their money there. In LOCAL economies instead of crooked casino investors who pocket billions.

They do NOT bring in the revenue YOU think they would. Try widening your investigative techniques instead of trying to make some stats fit the scenario in your mind. The casino in RI has lost a fortune and the state is hurting because of it. Check your facts.

I will say though, I think the movie industry coming to Plymouth would be a GREAT boost to the local area and the states revenue coffers.
