Cool Quincy or Medford or Salem

I'd say Quincy or Medford?

SOme of the suburbs are more culturally diverse than in years past and more open to different people. Wakefield , Melrose, Watertown, Waltham, Winchester, Woburn, Stoneham, Billerica, Andover, Reading, Wilmington , Salem, all come to mind

I'd say definitely look into Quincy, Medford, and Salem.

I teach in Randolph. It is a great community for black families and our test scores are on the rise. There is also a good mix of people from other places.

Also, I wanted to add that there is a historically black community in West Medford with a couple of churches, etc. While Medford school systems are NOT the greatest, this community backs up onto Arlington and it is bifurcated by the river there. I think it would be possible to live in this part of Arlington and get the benefit of the Arlington school system and and still live close to or near the community in Medford and be able to take advantage of what it has to offer.
