Default Halifax

Hello,

Does anyone have any info/opinions on Halifax, MA they would like to share? I was looking at a few units at "Halifax Meadows" and I am wondering if anyone has heard anything (good or bad) about this complex. I am also interested in opinions about the school systems.

Thanks!

I wouldn't live in Halifax - too rural/hick town! I would try to find a town along route 3 if you want the South Shore.

You don't even know if rural is the type of setting the original poster wants. You're not helping by making snide remarks about the town's residents.

Pru: I know someone who bought a $500k house there because he thinks it's up and coming and has a new commuter rail station that brings him right into South Station. He also mentioned that test scores have been going up and the town is committed to improving itself. Their test scores are currently "average".

Default nice blue collar town

Halifax/Hanson (they kind of go hand and hand together) are OK towns. It's is as built up than some of the south shore town. But I never had any problems with it. I'd say that the towns in general are still a good hardworking blue collar towns.
As for the schools. All I can say is I've never heard any major complaints about silver lake high school.

Default Halifax

I live in Halifax. It is an up and coming town. We just built a new Jr. High and High School for the Silver Lake District. This district serves Halifax, Kingston and Plympton. We have town water, septic. Lots of new neighborhoods off of 106 in the area of 105. We have a golf course, a Stop & Shop, a few decent restaurants (nothing fancy, just pub types) and a Walmart. Also a Dunkin Donuts. If you're commuting in to town, there is a T-Station as well. The one thing I can say is that it takes time to get to a major highway. Probably about 20 minutes or so. It's kind of like you can't get there from here. 10 Years ago, I would have called it a "Hick" town as someone else did, but not anymore. People who can't afford surrounding towns such as Pembroke have moved here instead. Lots of new families. As for the complex you're looking at, the general feeling I get is that it's not so great. Any other questions, feel free to post or PM me.
