Default Lawrence

I was walking around Lawrence earlier today just to check it out, and I gotta say that IF utilized right, its a city with potential. I saw the potential. I saw this nice looking bakery, an ice cream place, a few restaurants, a farmers market. I think if the right people moved in and scooped up some of the dead weight and bought some of the old assets that it could be an up and coming place. as long as that element is there, it looks to be held back. Overall tho, it wasnt a horrible place like people make it and people do seem to mind their business. It just needs a lot of work.
I could see it being a hub for artists as Im sure it once was. Thoughts?

Don't think it was ever a hub for artists. It was a successful mill town back when there was mill work. I don't think it's coming "up" anytime soon. Lowell was more successful and is still not so great, and had Paul Tsongas and house booms and all to push it along.
Lawrence is one of the highest cities in the state for foreclosures-my guess is sleazy loans to immigrants, especially for multi-family housing.
Lawrence is going to be hurting for a long time, on the whole. If people wanted to move to the small neighborhoods as you mentioned, they might be OK. But artists' mecca? Don't think so.

Cool Why not build a movie backlot in Lawrence

Why not build a movie back-lot in Lawrence. They probably have some abandoned millyards that could be turned into a movie studio complex.
Hollywood North Anyone? :-)

Could be a great boon to the economy of Lawrence.

It would be nice if they could clean the city up a bit develop some more activities in the city and parks and such to draw people in

maybe have a trolley to take people around like Lowell
