Thinking of moving back to Mass (South Shore Area)
Hello,
We moved to Florida in 2007. We are thinking about moving back up. I grew up in Somerset and have lived in Fall River, Dighton and Berkley. We want to move back up to the coast though, south shore anywhere from Quincy to Plymouth.
We would like to be near the water, (right on it if the price it right). Also we have a 14 year old so I need a good school system. We would like to be in an area with a small town feel (quaint new england feel).
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

Scituate. Or if your budget is high, Cohasset.

Home prices and school systems vary greatly from town to town on the South Shore...as you probably know from living in Ma. previously.
Hanover, Norwell, Hingham Duxbury and Plymouth are all fantastic places to live. Scituate and Cohasset the same. As for being on the water/ocean the further south you head down Rte 3 from Quincy/Braintree the prices on waterfront property decline in price(not drastically by any means) with Duxbury being the exception. This is true all the way to the Sagamore bridge and then prices start to rise as you're now on the Cape.
I would recommend Plymouth without hesitation...same for Duxbury, Hanover, Hingham, Scituate.

As a Scituate resident, I am biased - but it's a good combination of things. On the water, commuter rail to Boston, good schools without crazy taxes/spending.

Oh, and a lovely town too. Lots of trees, nice housing stock, older new england feel. A bit quiet, and kinda far from lots of resturants, shopping, etc. - but 20min away takes care of that. It's somewhat exclusive due to house prices - but your $$$ goes way futher than in Hingham and Cohasset. More economically diverse too (ie not just the upper crust).

Kingston doesn't have the biggest water front (ocean front). But it should be a town of consideration for you.

Plymouth schools are mediocre at best. Marshfield and Scituate would be your best bet.
