General question on Boston area....looking to move.
In many metropolitan areas here in the south, there is a perception that as you move north and west from a city, you find "better" suburb areas. Unfortunately, this perception becomes actualized in higher home prices many times in these areas. Will I find this perception in the Boston area?

Somewhat. The wealthiest towns are west of the city, Weston, Dover, Sherborn, Wellesley which are clustered together. And the prices reflect that, yes.

Casey is right. West of the city is the most expensive and perceived to be most desirable because of easy commute, great schools, etc. In these towns, a half-million is tne entry price. North and South of the city, the priciest areas are those near the ocean. What is it you are looking for in a town? A bit more info might help us to help you.

Casey has given me some good advice on another post, but I am looking to be somewhat close to Easton for work. Want a relatively short commute, but will drive if it makes much of a difference. Actually Easton sounds nice, but I am looking for some more options. Family friendly, neighborly, good schools, shopping available without going too far away, etc.

I'll add Freetown to the list. It's regionalized (for schools) with Lakeville (a great community) and very affordable given the area. It's a lovely little town.
