If you are going to pick the South Shore, I would choose these towns (in this order). I wouldn't bother with the other towns (i.e. Weymouth, Braintree, Abington, Pembroke, Kingston, etc).

- Duxbury
- Cohasset
- Hingham
- Scituate
- Norwell
- Hanover (less expensive than any of the towns above but schools are just as good)

Wow! Thanks everyone! All the responses have been extremely helpful. We are going up to north shore this week and staying a few days to scope it out. Then in early fall we will be doing the same with south shore.
