Default Moving to Springfield, MA area--advice on where to live?

I'm a single male lawyer in my mid to late 20s, and I just got a job in Springfield. Salary is in the mid 60s. I'd like be close to CT because I have ties there.

I realize Springfield is pretty ghetto. I'm considering Longmeadow, West Springfield, Agawam, Enfield, East Windsor/Broad Brook, and any other place that is very close to I91 (within a mile or two), close to Springfield (less than 25 minutes away), and not ghetto.

Suggestions on where to live?

Any of those choices would work out for you,Agawam is little off of 91 but still closer to Springfield than Est Windsor. But i think you can get the most bang for your buck in West Springfield. Also there are some really nice sections of Springfield,it is not all ghetto.

You should look at East Longmeadow, it borders Springfield and Enfield, Connecticut. Quick access to I91 in Longmeadow or Springfield or Enfield from there.

Cool Windsor Lockes, Enfield, Somersville or Stafford Springs

Since you like CT but want to be close to Springfield how about Windsor Lockes and/or Enfield?

Somersville could be another choice

or Stafford Springs

From Somerville- Stafford Springs you could take 190 to 83 up into Springfield to avoid the highway

Sotuhwick MA might work as well

Another option in Conn
might be
Granby or Suffield Conn.

In Mass you might check out WIlbraham

Hampden

Southwick

Longmeadow

Tolland Center

Granville Mass.

Blanford MA

The Tyringham/Otis Area might be espeically nice for you and would be on I-90 would be about
20 miles West of Springfield on the pike

Lenox Housatonic , or lee could be another option as its right on the pike but its about 30 miles from Springfield to the West

North of Springfield you could look into Northhampton, Deerfield, Greenfield,
Belchertown , Hadley, Amherst, Leverett, Sunderland, and Montague

East of Springfield you could look into

Wilbraham, Belchertown, Ware, Brookfields, Palmer, Monson, Sturbridge , Fiskdale, Charlton or Brimfield

Hope this helps in your planning

I would stay out of Bigelow Commons that section of Enfield is called Thompsonville and has a big drug problem.

If Stockbridge Court is the one I'm thinking of I would stay out of there too. Is it on Willow st? If it is its in the south end, not the place you want to be.

Bigelow Commons is about 1.5 miles north from the center of Thompsonville, according to Google maps. But Woodgate Apartments and Countrywood are about 1.5 miles south from the center of Thompsonville. Would you say that Woodgate and Countrywood are in much safer locations than where Bigelow is?

Is Thompsonville even safe to drive through?

Stockbridge is on Willow Street. I heard the area is not that bad, but I think you're right that I should steer clear of this area... I'm not much of a city person anyway. I am going to be working a few blocks north downtown though. Is this area safe?
