Default school system in southern berkshires?

I might be moving my family to the Great Barrington area and am investigating school options for my kindergardener. What can you tell me about the school system there? Is there school choice? We will most likely be living in Monterey at first...is the Undermountain school decent? Any alternative schools? Any info would be appreciated...will be most likely living in Monterey to start out.

Having grown up in GB, yes, I do believe that school choice is still in place. 20 years ago Southern Berkshries kids were coming to us in Berkshire Hills in droves. Methinks Berkshire Hills is still superior. In recent years that member towns have really rallied to build the brand-new centralized elementary school...not sure the same can be said for Southern Berkshire. Muddy Brook is a short-ish drive from Montery and certainly closer than schleping down to Sheffield. Many of my peers now have kids there, do PTO work, etc. and they all appear to love it!
