Never heard of Jesup anywhere, and certainly not near Boston or Groton. Maybe it's the name of a complex or something.
There's a great big movie plex in Berlin (west, towards Worcester). The movie in Littleton closed years ago. There's a nice little theater (three screens) in Maynard, near Ayer. I think there's a plex west on Rt.2 in Leominster.
I like somewhat off-center movies, and go to the Arlington Capitol, West Newton, and Waltham Embassy. Also Coolidge Corner in Brookline.
The only place I've seen apartments (or looked for 'em) has been in the Community Newspaper Group, Littleton Independent edition. I don't know if Ayer has its own edition, but the Littleton Independent lists Ayer apartments. Also the occasional apartment in Littleton. There's a gorgeous horse stable at the end of my street that has some apartments that used to be for staff, and a cottage. I don't think they're advertised anywhere but Littleton Independent. (I forgot that Community Newsgroup has local editions under other names. Check under Littleton Indepenent, or direct mail me and I'll send you whatever likely listings in the most recent paper.
I love this area, and have been here since 1992, in-town Cambridge/Arlington before that for the young years. NW of Boston (the areas we're discussing) are full of orchards, active farms and farmstands, and antique houses. I love west on Rt.2, and Groton is beautiful. I'm happy for you!

Okay, we narrowed it down to Old Town Village apts in Ayer. Does anyone know if they're safe and in a safe area? My friend went to Emerson and warned me about some sketchy neighborhoods near Chelmsford and Ayer. Does anyone know what she means? It seems like they're both safe to me. Chelmsford, I was told, schools are in the top five or six. She was in Boston which is about thirty mins to an hour away. Why would she have travelled to those places? Thanks, soooooo much, again.

I have no idea what your friend was talking about, especially if she went to Emerson College (don't walk on the Common at night!).
No complexes are particularly unsafe in Ayer. There are some kinda tired complexes with teenage mothers pushing strollers. A lot of apartments were slapped up for the military when Fort Devens was open. The complexes aren't high-rise types, mostly are longish rows of attached townhouses, typically two bedrooms and a bath upstairs, ordianary layout and half-bath downstairs. Very 1960s, I'd say.
There really isn't a "bad" area of Ayer, and certainly nothing compared to a real city or bad neighborhood. Some is just more... tired.

Thanks again. We ended up in Chelmsford and I love it here! Groton and Littleton looked really cute too. I love all the trees that way! There is a lot of traffic in Chelmsford though! Oh, my neice meant to be careful around Lowell and Fitchburg. I had already found out about them anyway. We were also warned to be careful in Lowell once we got here too. but you need to be careful where ever you are. They meant that they have some pretty good clubs but to just be careful. We found out that there's a cheesecake factory here and are very excited!!! We didn't have one anywhere near us in Syracuse NY. Thanks again. Bye
