LOL, ok, so it's like the opposite of Phoenix I'm gathering. Forecast calls for rain yet we never really see any. In Phoenix your heart sings if it starts to really rain. LOL People run outside and play in it, people who just moved here from the mid west or east sort of freak out that we all run outside instead of inside during a thunderstorm. This is what happens when we don't get rain for a couple of months and then we get one large storm, floods. Then we go out driving in it for fun. We have a "stupid motorist" law just for people like this, no kidding.

The fire dept is sick of fishing them out of their cars.

I will be doing a 180 in Cape Cod, I wonder if my heart will sing its self out in the first six months.
I will probably see more rain than I have in the last 20 years.

Very funny. I kinda skipped thru the video but I got the idea.

We get the same thing here with stupid behavior in snowstorms, like, the mother thinking, OMG, the snowstorm is at it's thickest and wildest, this is the moment I must skid across town and pick up Emma early from pre-school!!

I live 35 miles inland, northwest of Boston. There are two weather belts between me and the coast, I think due to the minor altitude increases, and the distance from the actual coast.
The temperature will be 5-10 degrees more extreme than the coast, both warmer and colder, because of the coastal effect being 35 miles away.
Storm-wise, of course I have no flood watches or any such (a good thing!). The severity of any storms actually depends on which direction the storm is coming from- some come in from the ocean ("nor'easter) and some come in from the west, and so on.
The ice storm last year, with the many days' power outage (three days for me, on the leading edge of it) was the only time in my life that's every happened. Before that, I think I lost power one day in 1996. That ice storm was a complete anomaly, akin to the Blizzard of 1978 (although now, with much better weather info, the 1978 storm certainly wouldn't have had the same effects).
I personally wouldn't care to live anywhere where a storm and high tide presented a real problem to my home or road. It's easy enough to live a short drive to the ocean (if desired) and not worry about your back yard eroding away.
I personally find the summers way too humid (not hot) but I think after Phoenix, you probably wouldn't agree. Most people seem to like the summers here. Over the years, they've gotten, in my opinion, more humid and less hot. Again, that's me. I try to get away to the dry West in the summer when everyone else is running around, saying, "Let's go bike riding!" and so on.

Welcome to New England. It is a wonderful place to live in many ways, physical, historical, intellectual, career.
