We are relocating to MA next month and I am just wondering if anyone can suggest neighborhoods that are family friendly (we have 2 young children, 3 and 1) and within the $450 - $550 range? We are trying to find a subdivision with wooded lots to afford some privacy. Also - any general information on the towns mentioned above (with regard to preschool-aged kids - things to do, etc.) would be much appreciated! Thank you!

All the towns you mentioned are family oriented and would have programs for preschool kids. Franklin and Foxborough have YMCA branches which would have additional activities. Franklin and Mansfield have commuter rail to Boston and you can also take the train to Providence from the Mansfield station. I know we have had quite a few inquiries about these towns on the forum, so a search would bring up more information for you.

Franklin is a wonderful place to live with young children. We live in Franklin and have a 2-year-old. I belong to a Moms group that sends weekly emails with daily activities in the area that are suitable for young children (the activities aren't necessarily affiliated with the group - it's just a resource to let you know what's happening in the area). Every day there are numerous fun things going on that are in or around Franklin. Many activities are free or very inexpensive. Most of the local libraries offer almost daily free activities - storytime, crafts, songs, etc. for this age group. There are also a few fenced-in toddler playgrounds in and around Franklin. We have at least a handful of farms in the surrounding towns with animals to pet, etc. There are also 2-3 zoos within 30 minutes of town, as well as indoor playspaces (JW Tumbles, Little Gym, Pump it Up, Playtown Express, etc.) in or within 20 minutes of Franklin that are good for the winter. As one person mentioned, there's also a new, large YMCA in town with indoor and outdoor pools, as well as numerous activities for kids.

You should also try joining the Franklin Newcomers Club! It's a great way to meet other women in your town--both working & stay-at-homes--and get introduced to people who live all over town. You will make friends right away.
Good luck and welcome to Franklin!
