Visiting Worcester next weekend....Restaurants?
We're coming to Worcester next weekend with the Penguins Booster Club to go to the Sharks/Penguins hockey game. We're staying by the DCU Center at the Hilton Garden Inn. We've been up your way (last year), and had a really nice meal and good beer at a brewpub-type place that I can't remember the name of. I hope it's still there! Or, can you recommend any brewpub or sports bar-type places with good food and a good selection of microbrews, within walking distance of the DCU center? Thanks!!

Brew City on Shrewsbury St.? If that's what you're thinking, it's still there.
Armsby Abbey on Main St. also has a great selection of microbrews, best in the city probably. Quite an interesting place. Armsby Abbey
The Dive Bar on Green St. (this is more towards the Canal District than downtown), has a good American microbrew selection as well - but has no food, unless you count the hot dog truck on the street outside.
Sports bars... not sure.

Armsby Abbey sounds like our type of place! Thanks for the great suggestion.

Within walking distance is Uno Chicago Grille at the corner of Major Taylor and Exchange St. A great selection of lunch, dinner and beer, draft and bottles.
Uno Chicago Grill: Menu printable menu shows everything.
Oh, welcome to Wista!

They have those everywhere. If I'm coming to a new city, I'd like to try out the local flavor and local places rather than some national chain with the same stuff everywhere.
Hence my suggestion of the Abbey. I had others, but they aren't within walking distance of Central Street.

I agree- we have an "Uno" in our area. I like to try the "local flavor" like you said. I travel a lot, and I feel EVERY place has something good to offer. We're looking forward to going to the Abbey.

My favorite restaurant in Worcester is The Boynton.

Brew City is definitely what I was thinking. You can also order smores there and they give you a little plate with a fire in the middle.
Another place that has about 150 or more beers on tap is O'Connors which is on the West Boylston/Worcester line. You will need a car to get there though but is only about 4-5 miles up the road.

I would highly recommend The Sole Proprietor on Highland Street. As previously mentioned The Boynton is also on Highland. Also a little ways out of town on West Boylston Street is one of the better Irish themed establishments in The Commonwealth O'Connors.(also previously mentioned). If you want a genuine dining car experience try the Boulevard Diner on Shrewsbury Street.
