Default Moving to Wilmington or a nearby town

We are considering a move to Wilmington (or a nearby town) and would love to hear more about this town. We are looking for a town that is community-oriented, with a town center (preferably a walking downtown area), upscale grocery stores and amenities, good schools and great, family oriented neighborhoods. We would look for an upscale neighborhood that is full of kids, with custom, non-cookie cutter homes. Two more questions - how far is wilmington from boston? and are the public schools good or should we look at private? How much are private schools in this area? Thank you for your time and expertise!!

I have been doing some research on Boston area schools for a while now and it appears that Wilmington indeed has good public schools. I am not a local though so other people may be able to help more.

Wilmington is a great town with good public schools. Not much of a downtown but definitely a community-oriented family environment.

If you had a little more money to spend, Burlington is also a nice town with really good public schools. Burlington also has a decent array of upscale restaurants (Capital Grille, Landana, Summer Winter, Escadrille).

Any suggestions for towns north of Wilmington within a 20-25 minute commute, nearer to the mountains or water?
