I am moving to Boston area and will be working downtown. I am single and in my late 30s so I don't want to move to an area that is high crime and/or nothing to do. I can only afford around $1000 a month. Any suggestions?

Shrewsbury is a nice but quiet suburb. It's not an easy commute to Boston. Just getting past Rt 9 to the Mass Pike would be a challenge. You could take the train from Westboro (on the Shrewsbury town line).

Have you thought about someplace a little closer to Boston? Maybe a decent area of Quincy? I know Wollaston is nice but am not very familiar with the rental prices there. Perhaps someone else can chime in on that point.

Best of luck!

Thanks! Someone else on another thread mentioned Quincy. I am in my late 30s and single, so I don't want to live in a dead area with nothing to do. Any other suggestions?

I wonder if you could find something in Somerville? My cousin lives there and is walking distance to lots of restaurants and activities.
