Are you making a reference to gay marriage? I'm glad MA has gay marriage-If you don't believe in gay marriage, then don't have a gay marriage...In MA gay people are seen as human beings. In other states, they are beaten and killed. MA is definatly the leader and a role model when it comes to gay rights issues..
I hope gay marriage becomes law in all 50 states..
And the bad drivers label is getting really old...Boston drivers may not be great, but they are not the worst..Try driving in Los Angeles sometime....
MA is not perfect-but we do have some very good traits-plus the finest universities in the country...

It's as annoying as going on date with someone who prattles on about themselves, and never once asks you about your life.....

[i]Are you making a reference to gay marriage? I'm glad MA has gay marriage-
your view others have a different view in massachusetts that's what makes america great compared to other countries
If you don't believe in gay marriage, then don't have a gay marriage.
.just because mass has it then it certainly doesn't mean everyone in massachusetts wants it and we'll never know the full vote as no one was allowed to vote on the issue plus maybe that's why some around the country get confused about massachusetts as not all are liberal to that extent .
Like I said I'm not going to get into why people do or don't as there are many reasons on why people think like they do but they should never be name called or silenced because of the message they bring that radical stuff happens in facist and communist countries.
If however you mean if you don't believe in it then don't have it then it's like saying I want four wives as my muslim faith tells me I can so if you don't want 4 then don't have 4
.In MA gay people are seen as human beings. In other states, they are beaten and killed.
sounds a little over the top about the human beings but believe me I have met many who have stronger thoughts on this in mass than they do around the country . as they say mainly because they woke up one morning and found about men can now marry men also
you will find gays have been killed and attacked in massachusetts
MA is definatly the leader and a role model when it comes to gay rights issues..
I hope gay marriage becomes law in all 50 states..
again in your view not all massachusetts view or defiantly the country as states have now changed their laws for no loop holes nearly half the states have and some are still changing it
like voltaire said
I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it.
hopefully one day more and more people will listen to those words and then the world would be better off instead of more wars and people dying

we agree
I enjoy a debate and having one with someone who can do that instead of acting like a spoilt brat because you said something they never liked
a debate is healthy, it gets us somewhere instead of people hurt mentally or physically

I grew up in MA and just recently moved to the West Coast in September. I completely agree with you. People in the Northeast are just cold by nature. It's nothing personal really. That's just the way people are. Even out here on the West Coast people know that people in the Northeast are not friendly at all. That's one of the reasons I wanted out of the Northeast and I'm happy with my decision.

I've found that people from the Northeast are "cold" when they are in the Northeast. It's kinda funny, because when I've met other New Englanders down south, out west, or other places, they are more relaxed and a lot more open. Something about the weather, or general attitude or atmosphere around here causes people to act "cold".

Don't confused "cold" with reserved. Just because someone isn't giggling and bubbling and babbling and getting in-your-face with every detail of their personal life doesn't mean they're not friendly. It never seems to occur to the in-your-face babbler that THEY are the one being rude.
Perception isn't necessarily reality. Don't go around judging everyone else until you know them, and more importantly, don't lump groups of people together and label them as being this or that, because everyone's different.
I'm a native New Englander and I cringe at the things some other natives have written in this thread, attempting to describe the entire region in their own terms and in their own prejudiced views. Clannishness and standoffishness is not practiced by people with good manners. Just get to know people, make an effort to be as friendly and helpful and welcoming to them as you want them to be to you, and you'll find friends anywhere.
