We will be staying in Cambridge this weekend for 2 nights to celebrate my daughters 11th birthday. Any recommendations for a fun restaurant that is kid friendly (we have a 7 year old as well). We have been to the North End so that is out. My backup may be the Border Cafe in Harvard Sq.

What's your daughter like? Is she well behaved? What does she enjoy eating?

I was eight years old when I had my first lobster...

Depending on time of day, I think Fire and Ice might be alot of fun. My son was about 11 when he went for the 1st time, and he wanted to go back for his 13th birthday. There's quite a variety of foods to chose from, even for a 7 year old. Don't think I'd bring kids at 8 pm on a Saturday night, but earlier should be just fine. I think they're open for lunch as well. Great smoothies for the kids too!

Why not do something in Chinatown? Lively atmosphere, welcoming to families and you do not sacrifice any quality in the food category.

Either of the Shabu/Hot Pot places might be interesting, because you can cook your food at the table:

- Shabu Zen: http://www.shabuzen.com/
- Kaze Shabu Shabu: http://www.kazeshabushabu.com/

Or if it is earlier in the day you can go for Dim Sum at Hei La Moon: http://www.heilamoon.com/
