Hi..........beeen reading some of your threads. You are still in CALIF??? How did you sell home in CA and buy in MA. I am concerned about the logistics of selling property here (in San Fernando Valley) and buying there. Any info on real estate logistics would be helpful. I don't know if you rented here in CA, which would be easier, but I have two possible homes to sell before returning to Mass. The RE market is in such a slump, and then the issue of capital gains.........I am writing you because you are in CA (do not know if you are a native) and you are going to MA. I am just wanting to return home, to Massachusetts..........I love New England, I truly miss the weather.....I was there on Revere beach in "The Perfect Storm".........had to evacuate my house////many many memories.
California is a surburban sprawl, more and more home being buit on every possible inch of earth,,,,,,,,UGLY pseudo styles "clone" homes. I can get almost $600,000 for principal resident and around $535,000 for rental Prop..........i.e. > 1 million for both after taxes etc..........so buying property in expensuve Boston is NO PROBLEM. Just now, like you looking for the best choice of community.......trying to stay North Shore, cuz that where we spent most of our lives. As you may know, people differentiate between No. Shore, So. Shore, Metro West etc.......I could talk for hours......I had a hard time here, cuz no one knows about Boston, I speak to a close friend almost everyday "back there", makes me so homesick.....
My warning to adults seeking new residency: Adults do not really make friends, only acquaintences////If you are an adult (say in your 40's), you will have a hard time no matter where you go. People have a whole history together that you are not a part of, my history, my milestones were in Mass., therefore I have no attachment to CA..........just property///neighbors were bery unfriendly here, in fact they suck>>>
