Smile MOVING- finally! Need help with moving companies/options

We finally have settled renting our condo. Selling was too stressful and ridiculous in this market.

But to the point- we need moving company options from those that have experienced them first hand.

I recently got a quote from Gentle Giant who comes highly recommended, but they are pricey. $2000 for a 2 bed condo- 60 mile move.

Door to Door is around $900, but then again....you have to break your back.

And U-Haul is around $200-4000, but the back gets broke here too.

We'd be happy paying mover to do it all if it were closer to $1200-1400.

Any advice or tips is appreciated.

We've used a company out of Natick - I think it was called All State Moving. We used them twice and were happy with them but I don't know if they do interstate moves.

yeah- many of the companies I have called don't do moves shorter than 150 miles. Our move will be around 50-60 miles.

Any tips folks?

Check the local papers, and craigslist. I found one good mover on craigslist.

Also check some of the community bulletin-boards. People willing to move you 50-60 miles may be general handymen, and you might find more than one on a bulletin board (library, supermarket).

Good luck on the move!

Hi NY, We used Danielles Vanlines. Definetly the most affordable we found and they did a great job. Moved us from Ma. to California. You can speak to
Danielle herself for prices. Good luck. Where are you moving to ?

When hubby and I moved from Somerville to Everett, we used Xpress Movers. They showed up on time, were very efficient, and were very calm when Hubby and I freaked out about our missing cat (who we eventually found).

My cat disappeared on my move day too. Gave me a total heart attack. I looked everywhere in that empty apartment, thinking may he got out and ran off. Finally found him in the cabinet above the fridge. Totally stressed me out. I was in tears. Cats do not like moves!
