If this passed, a few back-alley shops would probably pop up to "assist" people with any "difficulties"

The state legislature down here in NC is talking about a mileage tax, too, so it's not just up in MA. Don't move here expecting lower taxes, they're catching up with the Northeast quickly!

The mileage tax already exists in a way. We all pay 18 cents to the fed and another 20 to the state for each gallon. If someone has a large SUV which gets poor gas mileage, they pay more per mile than someone with an economy car. Why would we need yet another form of taxation?

They are claiming because cars are more fuel efficient they aren't getting enough taxes now. But you know that they won't get rid of the gas tax if they add the mileage tax.

Looks like a lot of the northerners who moved south started to take the high tax method of the north with them.
