The Democrat-controlled Massachusetts House came within a razor-thin margin yesterday of advancing a Republican proposal to block public benefits for illegal immigrants, a reversal from last year when opponents easily torpedoed the measure.
I just googled something a previous poster had mentioned about illegal immigrants in MA. Apparently they CAN apply for (and get?) freebies from our state! ILLEGALS? What about the immigrants who came here LEGALLY, within the law? I don't think they're eligible for anything. People who went LEGALLY though the (admittedly convoluted and time consuming) immigration process can't get benefits -- I know they can't get food stamps and I don't think they can get welfare either. They signed papers saying that they would never become a burden on the government! I'm sorry but I'm surprised to see that my own state of Massachusetts discriminates against LEGAL, law abiding immigrants in favor of law breaking ILlegals.
