Looking for recommendations for a real estate attorney for a home closing in Lexington, MA. Feel free to give your reasons why. Perhaps someone who specializes in real estate rather than a wider range of services. Thanks.

real estate attorney Neal Shaffer 508-435-7800. I've had many clients who worked with him & have been very pleased.

Are you the buyer or the seller?

Typically the buyer's bank or mortgage company will assign the attorney for the closing.

Are you looking for someone to represent you in the transaction?

I am the buyer and of sourse, I'd like someone to represent me. One attorney I spoke with said that in MA, the attorney acts as escrow agent. I am not sure if this implies they work in the interest of all parties to close the deal vs in my interest. I am not sure what the difference would be.

Deborah Nowell in Arlington specializes in real estate. I am using her as a buyer and as a seller (on two different properties). She is very responsive.
