We are looking to relocate to one of these areas in Massachusetts and was wondering if anyone knew of any lake communities that would be nice to raise a family in. And yes, I understand the ocean is very close , but were looking for a lakeside town that had a community feel to it: swimming, boating, and a general area where families would gather.
we were looking in:
Pembroke
Marshfield
Duxbury
Scituate
Kingston
and more...

Thank you for your help!

Oldham Pond in Pembroke

You can also find descriptions of many lakes and ponds across the state at MassWildlife - Pond Maps in Southeast District.

Pembroke I think is your best shot at getting what your looking for. I also give Pembroke high marks for as a community in general.

Pembroke Seems Too Good To Be True

Plymouth and Hanson have some lakeside communities. Not sure if there so "cute" though.
