How good is the parking situation? If we rent the home we are looking at in Easton, SO would use Stoughton Station, about ten mins from the house, so he'd have to park daily. Also, how much does it cost to park daily? If both our schedules permit, it may be better for me to drop him off and pick him up every day.

There is a decent parking capacity. Per the T, 30% of the spots are available on a typical weekday. For many stations, this is more like 2%. It's $4 daily.

30% are available? Does this mean there is normally no problem getting a spot or are they saying only 30 percent of them total. If so, why aren't the other 70%? Or are they saying 70% is usually all that is occupied? LOL Sorry I'm a little lost. Just trying to debate being I don't know his school schedule yet and if I'd be able to drop him off and pick him up every day vs him having to park.

Default Stoughton parking

Hi,
Per the MBTA website, the parking lot is 70% filled to capacity, while 30% of spots are not filled. Stoughton is a working-class town where not everyone works in downtown Boston, and so its parking lot probably isn't super-crowded like some of the wealthier towns where most folks commute to downtown Boston.

The area where the Stoughton MBTA lot's located is a bit gritty-- wouldn't call it unsafe, but certainly not gentrified. Looking at the MBTA schedule, there's not that many rush hours trains from Stoughton to downtown, so it may not mesh well with your school schedule.

You may want to consider finding a rental house in Westwood near Islington station if possible--many people walk to that station, and you can also get there from NESL via the subway and bus (Orange Line T to Forest Hills, then the #34 bus will take you to Westwood).
MBTA Commuter Rail > Franklin Lines Schedules and Maps

The town of CANTON also has multiple MBTA stations with frequent service, and if you can afford a rental there, would probably also work better than Easton.

I park there daily. It is NEVER full. You can even buy a monthly pass (unlike lots of the other stations) so it averages out to less than $4 a day.

just a heads up. Unless your commute ends at S.Station, it will get lengthy. I am going to kendall square. (off the commuter rail, onto the red line) and it is typically 1 and a half to an hour and 45 minutes door to door since you have to wait for the connections. Plus the stoughton train only runs every 3rd or so train as the canton station.

All in all, not a commute I would actually recommend. We are moving out of the area because of it.
