96713 Hana $2,595,163
96753 Kihei $1,312,983 (this zip also includes Wailea)
96761 Lahaina $1,119,100 (this zip also includes Kaanapali)
96708 Haiku $1,167,803

Zip 96713 has a place for sale currently for a cool $55,000,000
Is that for residential only? I'm surprised the numbers are that high.

Yes, residential only - the high end homes can skew the numbers though since it is average and not median.

There are 14 places for sale in 96753 (Kihei) at least $10,000,000 a piece, with the highest at $21,000,000 for a place on Makena Rd.

Yep, and you can rent it at $1,350/night as a vacation rental.

Oprah has several homes, one on Hana, one upcountry, and a couple of townhouses in Wailea. But while she's rich, she doesn't live here. Same with Steven Tyler, who recently bought a home here, and he spends a lot of time on Maui, but I don't think I'd consider him a resident.

Are you looking for actual rich residents, or do you just want to know where there are expensive structures?
I had no idea Oprah owned so many homes. I thought she just had a farm in up country.
Interesting, and I read that she is thinking of becoming a farmer in Maui. LOL

Yes, well, if watching her show or the behind the scenes show, she's not much of a "get your hands dirty" gal. I remember an episode about camping, and that was surrounded by assistants, with gourmet food... I kinda doubt that Oprah's going to don overalls and pick up a shovel. But hey, to each their own. I'm not a city gal, and would find it torture to go to so many meetings, drive around so many cars, etc.

But she could well start a venture or two, and she'd be welcome to do it. I'd like to see her involved in the island's self-sustainability efforts, and perhaps she would even take an interest in education.

I wouldn't mind having a life full of meetings and cars.

I agree with you, Wink! However, there are people out there who actually enjoy hard work. My father is one of those people. He is 76 and chooses to work hard every day. I don't get it at all. I work hard everyday so that someday I won't have to and at that point, I won't!
