Default What's happened here...

What's happened on Maui? There is such disrespect and not only from the younger generation. The older generation has become rude, pushy and non-caring as well. I don't remember it ever being this way.

Whenever I even remotely think about moving to the mainland, all I have to do is hang at the costya parking lot for a bit, and I'm IMMEDIATELY reminded of all the things I can't stand about life 'over there'. But Maui has changed in the time I've lived here, mostly for the worst, although everyone seems to view it as 'progress'. As far as attitudes are concerned, I think the tourists are a little more obnoxious than they used to be. The next time I'm out paddling on my surfski, and see some idiot on an SUP rental off Kamaole on their celphone, with the inevitable,"ALOOOOHAAA!!!!! YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHERE I AM!!!!!!!!!!!" I'm gonna friggin run em down, and blame the disappearance on killer opihi...

Not really.......................................'ALLL LOOOOOOOHHHHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!"
(then again)

Aloha

Yea, sad but true. Costya is definitely the very essence of all this is screwed up about the madland dropped right here in Hawaii. Funny how some folks almost go through a 'personality transformation' once they walk in the doors... although I was at costya a few months back, an elderly local lady with one eye, (I'm not joking), approached myself and the haole semi newcomer to the Islands that I was with, and asked us, " What did King Kamehameha scream at the battle above Wailuku?" I think I saw it coming, the fellow I was with was looking a little nervous.... " He wen scream,,,, IAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,,,,,, IAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,,,,, DESE LAVA ROCKS KILLIN MY FEETS!!!!!! SHOULDA WORN DA SLEEPAHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She was wearing a very nice pikake lei... Perhaps costya should hire her as a greeter?

Aloha

Hawaii,, even with the semi rough edges, ya gotta love it

I cherish the aloha in Maui the most - any suggestions for meeting more neighbors? Our friends are spread out and it would be nice to get to know the folks around us more. Would an open BBQ be received well? Suggestions? Mahalo!

Well I've met a lot of people photographing rodeos... That's about all it's good for, making friends. They'll go on about how amazing the photos are, but hardly anybody buys.
