I say medical "specialists" in parentheses because I believe people have different ideas of what a specialist is.

Can anyone recommend anything in or around Kihei. Granted I travel to these places 2x a year so even if it isnt super close, quality of care is most important.

  • Pulmonary Dr.
  • Dermatologist
  • Gynecologist
  • General Physician
  • Contact lens Eye Dr.
And not really a medical specialist, but how about a decent Veterinary Clinic recommendation?

Mahalo!

You will have more options in Wailuku than Kihei. I go to Maui Medical Group:
https://www.mauimedical.com/
They have offices around. They have bios of all their docs on the web site, so pick what you like. I have not gone enough to make any recommendation for a particular doc. They will want you to have insurance or pay a large up front deposit, as I recall.

My wife shopped around for the vet you are required to contract with to receive your pet when you arrive and found that Central Maui Animal was about the cheapest. We have stuck with them since then.

You should get an eye exam before you move - get a written prescription for your contacts - then you can buy them online for a couple of years. I think contact lens prescriptions last 1 year - so get a 1 year supply right after the exam - then another 1 year supply just before the prescription runs out. Lenses are expensive in Hawaii versus buying online.

That is awesome! I am coming with 3 sets, 2 brand new. With a prescription I just updated 3months ago...but your right it might not be a bad idea to squeeze that final exam in with my dental and physician apts. I will plan on rescheduling these when I am back on the Mainland and keeping my 1800 contact diet...thanks for the tip!

I sure wish I had more time, TechnologyPark wants me there in 30days... and with a 2week notice and a whole buncha stuff to unload...its going to get busy.

I buy from 1800 contacts as well... I don't know if you recall the Target thread, but one of the advantages our Target brings to the community is cheap contact lenses... they are about the same as 1800 contact prices, granted not ALL Targets have an optical department...but a lot do here in Suburbia.
