What are some places to stay in Maui? And does anyone know how much it cost to hop to other Islands, preferably by boat?

Except for the ferry from Maui to Lanai and Molokai - Hawaii does not have regularly scheduled passenger boat/ship service.

You can fly on a prop plane for under $100 round trip depending on destination and jet service will generally run you $160+ round trip.

We found a VRBO rental for roughly $1K for a week. It was away from the tourist areas, which is exactly what we wanted. It's cheaper to take a prop plane than a jet, but we paid extra for the jet. It's probably much nicer. I've never taken a commercial prop plane yet. There's still baggage fees, but they are a lot cheaper when flying between the islands. Some of the jets are very small and the carry-on storage cabinets are very tiny. However, those small Canadian jets are very quiet. That ocean waters are pretty rough around the islands, except for certain places, so it takes a ship to handle the large waves.

Is that per person $100.00 or less?

Maybe we can just walk ~ I'm scared of small prop planes ~

There are previous threads on this. Use the Search function to pull them up. Unfortunately flying is the only option between the major islands.
