I've had insurance from quite a few vendors here in Hawaii over the years, and have had some fairly exotic cars. GEICO is by the far the most reasonable, if you can stand that f**king talking gecko.

ANYONE, who knows ANYTHING, knows that a gecko would only speak pidgin

'Eh, what brudda, boddah you'

The HI Dept of Commerce and Consumer Affairs provided us some valuable info when we moved here in regards to the vast price difference in the wacky auto insurance arena in Hawaii....Since it's not MY site or link but a state link I hope I won't get slammed for any site rule violations but my apologies in advance if I did...

I just ran everything through the Geico website and it comes out to $550 per year cheaper for the same coverage. Waiting on a call back from Allstate, but I think I've found a winner.

Plus, I saw that talking gecko at the Makawao parade this year, so maybe he's not all bad!

Bnjforever: That website is fascinating, and at the very least it makes me feel like I don't own some strange car that has crazy insurance rate fluctuations. It's the insurance companies that are the crazy ones.

MineS I'd with first insurance but iirc island insurance just ran an advert for 27/month auto insurance. Then also if you are renting, package it with renters insurance to make the premium go down.

We started with GEICO on Maui in 1993 and they have always been there with us from Maui to Las Vegas to Indiana, to California and back to Maui

Still best deal and awesome customer service. My son rear ended a car last year and within a week, we had a check and the car was fixed.
