City bus route to get there? Any ideas? Thanks ls

GREAT bus service. $1.00 per leg, and I think your route is 2 legs from the airport to Kihei. Either the Haiku Islander or Upcountry Islander from the airport to the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center (mall), then transfer to the Kihei Islander route to get down to Kihei.
But you are limited to what you can bring on the bus. ONE bag, and not that big either. They don't put the bags under the bus like the bigger city buses in some cities. The rules state:
One medium-sized suitcase, duffle bag, or carry-on bag allowed, no larger than 22”H x 14”W x 9”L and must fit and be placed under the passenger’s seat or on the passenger’s lap so that it does not protrude to another seat.

There is also a Speedy Shuttle:
SpeediShuttle- Hawaii transportation services, Maui airport shuttles, Oahu airport shuttles, Big Island airport shuttles, Kauai airport shuttles
And taxis.
Much easier to beg a ride from whomever you are visiting, and offer to pay for gasoline.
