I never "got" the love some people have for the rotary. I think it's neat, but to me that relegates it to toy status. They do make decent horsepower for their diminutive size, but they also completely lack torque and get horrendous fuel economy for the size of the engine. Either give the RX-8 body some real engine choices, or just axe it and add a hardtop Miata to the lineup.

What's wrong with being a toy? My dad has an '03 RX-8 6-speed that he bought the week they came out, and winding that thing up to 9000 RPM never gets old. No, it's not the best tool for the job, but I don't know many more entertaining cars for the money.
