It's a very compelling product and damn near the best looking car in its segment. Toyota should worry because a few more generations following this pattern will give them a good hurting. I don't generally go for FWD cars but I'm genuinely excited about the next MazdaSpeed3 hopefully with 300hp on tap.
I'd like to see it in person. I liked the previous Mazda 3 but didn't like the rear seat room. Though there's only the 2 of us in our home, we sometimes makes trips with friends (usually to take a friend to the doctor's appointment). Even for kids, it's a tight space in the back seat. Hope there's more rear seat leg room in this model. When I first saw the Chevrolet Cruze, to me the exterior body shape was the direction the Corolla should have gone to. Conservative, but with a hint of sporty look.
I'm lukewarm on most Japanese brands, but I've always had a soft spot for Mazda. This is a home run in my eyes. I love the styling, the 2.5L sounds like a responsive engine, and it gets good fuel economy to boot.
I really hope this sells well...Mazda deserves it. Cars like the Corolla shouldn't sell the numbers they do when cars like this exist.

You're basing that last statement on the assumption that people buy a Corolla because they like to drive. Most of these people would be happier getting driven as it is a chore that gets them from A to B much like cleaning or cooking.

True, but you'd think they'd enjoy good seats, adaptive cruise control, and an excellent infotainment system.
