CNN’s audience shriveled in the second quarter of 2019, averaging only 541,000 total viewers, less than half Fox News Channel’s 1.3 million average. But CNN struggled even more during the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. ET, finishing as the fifteenth most-watched network on basic cable behind networks such as TLC, Investigation Discovery and the Hallmark Channel. CNN averaged a dismal 761,000 primetime viewers while FNC averaged 2.4 million.
CNN also saw over 100 employees accept a voluntary buyout option, losing bureau chiefs and award winners in the process.

Who the heck watches news between 8-11 pm ET? That's when I watch Josh Gates' "Expedition Unknown," or Ellen's "Game of Games," or Don Wildman's "Mysteries at the Museum."
Primetime is not when I watch news. Primetime is for fluff.
My theory - the rightwingnuts have one network echo-chamber that they watch 24/7/365 while the rest of the country watches everything else.
So each of the other networks are not getting the non-stop viewership They share total viewership of non-Trumpkins, which is a huge market, just divided. They'll get an hour here or there and the viewer moves to other sources.
This is why the non-rightwingers seem to be better versed in their political discussion. They get balance from a wide variety of sources.
You only see drump endorse one single network ----nothing else. It's because Faux is the RNC network.
Simpler version. Left biased news has more competitors.
CNN has MSNBC etc.
Fox competes with ??? for right of center biased news.
