Observation

If I don't feed myself on stuff that is Holy Spirit food -- if I only feed myself on stuff that I understand then I have stunted my own spiritual growth.

If Eli could not hear from God, the people would not receive messages from Him.
The only words that we receive that are of help to people are words from God. If we don't spend time listening to Him, then we will receive not words by which we will bless and encourage His people.

Ephesians 1:3 - "According as he hath chosen us in him, before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love."

God knew us before we were born.

Ephesians 2:8,9 - "For be grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast."

So, we can thank God in Christ for liberating us from a "works based"...

We know we are a priesthood, chosen by God, possessed by God, holy like God and royal to God. We have immediate access to Him and we don't need a human priest as a mediator because our Heavenly Father provided one Mediator between God...
