Loved your Carpetbaggers post. Having lived most of my life in tourist towns, I've seen my fair share of 'em setting up tents in the spring and disappearing into the autumn night...What we love about Wrangell is the lower numbers of both predator and prey...Gypsyrhydyr

Unbelievable. The quality of this photo is so fine I feel like I'm looking out the window. Makes me miss all the canoe trips I used to take as a kid through the Canadian wilderness. Thanks for sharing this one!

Gorgeous place and photo. It reminds me of some areas by the Richardson Highway not too far from Summit Lake.

I never believed that Charlotte would be subject to a near complete loss of gasoline & yet it has been our current state of affairs for the past ten days. Other parts of the country are experiencing adequate supplies of gasoline & we are waiting in long lines or driving around aimlessly, hoping to find a station with fuel or at least one with a tanker in its presence.

I'd been able to weather this crisis with almost no interruption till the station that I was using ran out of...

before patient registration services is able to get off their duffs at CMC & move a patient from the ER to a room. Friday night my MIL fell again at her assisted care facility. She had a bad cut near her left eye. The folks at the facility couldn't halt the flow of blood & called the local EMS. They transported her to CMC around 18:30. We went down there around 20:30 & waited till 3:30am for them to move her to a room.

Well we are back in Charlotte. We've had a couple weeks to re-acclimate ourselves to the time change & to the weather. I'd like to say that fall is very nice here but I hate how hot it is every day.

Well my wife & I have been on holiday in Alaska these past couple weeks. We took a cruise on the Carnival Spirit from 8/13-8/20. We visited Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Haines & Sitka before docking in Whittier on 8/20. We had a car pick us up in Whittier & take us to Anchorage Airport. There we picked up a rent a SUV & have been driving it all over South Central Alaska. We are currently in the Mat-Su Valley, but are leaving tomorrow for the Kenai Peninsula to spend a couple days...

I drove up to see a client in Huntersville this evening. I got caught in a huge thunderstorm.
As I was standing on their porch a big bolt of lightning came down & missed me by about 100'!!! The accompanying clap of thunder was so loud it was like standing next to a battleship firing its guns.

When the client arrived we went inside & the power was out. So I couldn't do the appraisal....
