Hi Capt Rick Hiott! I'm Greg, and I am considering a position with the cable company in North Charleston. I've browsed the forums and your opinion to me is the most credible, so I'll ask and I hope you will give it to me straight: Is the crime THAT bad? I mean, Pittsburgh has plenty of ghettos, I've worked in them, I've seen people at their worst, but around here nobody want to kill the cable guy for drug money. I've never even been there before, but it's got the CoL I can afford, it's nice and close to a beach, and the winters are mild.

I have other questions, but I don't want to lay it all on you at once! Thanks!

and I'm pretty sure it was a tarpon and I don't know how to gauge length when my feet are 6" off the ground (I was startled too!) LOL

Well, I don't know what big is when it comes to salt water fish. This one was about 36" from dorsal to tail, so I'm guessing 6' overall

You said it was six foot long from the dorsal to the tail with red fins?

    Hi Rick,

The last time we were in Charleston, we stayed at the hotel at the point across from the city (by the aircraft carrier) While there I would often walk the piers just admiring the sights, but in particular the fish. I saw lots of 'em including porpoises. Anyway, one morning I walked down and when I hit the pier I caught a large fish sunning himself. Judging from the distance from the dorsal to the tail it was about 6' long with red fins. Just curious, any idea what that might have been?
