    Hell Chilly Gentilly,
can you give me a few tips about living in this area? Elysian fields-the house is directly on the street. Recent renovation. Two floors. We couldn't pass it up because it's the perfect setup for a couple and a third party (the third party living upstairs so we all have more privacy), seperate bathrooms, etc etc. Anywho, is it safe for me to walk my dog during the day along Elysian Fields towards the Quarter? Any side streets along that route that I could take with her? If at the end of the lease we find that we don't feel safe we can always move I suppose. I'm just happy to at least get down there and start working and get my bearings. Three of us all with different schedules. Also, any suggestions for cafes in the area or grocery stores and bars? Thanks so much for your input and advice.

Thanks Chilly. I love our property but am so homesick for the U.S. I love the Australian countryside but I just don't fit into society here...might be an age thing, hahaha! New Orleans is an amazing city and we were lucky to live in the heart of it. It's a real privilege being a permanent U.S. resident, and at this point if I had to choose one country, it'd be the U.S.

Nope, we moved out in August. We had some problems with the property in Australia so have had to come back for a few months and get it sorted. We'll go back to NOLA for a month or so next Apr-May but we're looking to move somewhere rural in the States. Probably TN, close enough to Nashville for a little road trip but far out enough for quiet. We love NOLA but want to see as much of the US as possible and live the rural life there.
