So what can be done
directly regarding this issue?
Nothing. There is nothing that can be done directly, so be at peace with the fact that children of illegals will, and will continue to go to U.S. public schools.
In the 1980s the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Plyler v. Doe that states cannot withhold education from children of illegals.
