Just found the new thread. Your home is beautiful (even before you started working on it). Reading your first thread put non-electric living in my head; it's had time to simmer and I found the new thread looking for more information! I'm delighted things are going well for you!

Bet that ice crusher is red and attaches to a table. We had one like that growing up, many many years ago.

I have been following your story for a few months and I am impressed with your conviction. Some strong choices and even stronger will.

I am out of reps for you at the moment, but just wanted to tell you that never has someone's post on an internet forum site made me cry. Until now. Your post in response to marmac, regarding your last days with Jimmy, says so much about your character & what you stand for. I hope you are printing or archiving your story as you relate it to all of us. Someday when Perrin is 30 or 40, someone is going to ask that dear child, "why would your grandmother do something so off the radar for most people to even consider?" That post will go a long way towards enlightening them. Thank you, again, for sharing your life with all of us.

I sit here in tears, I found your original post and was so happy in the beginning that I did. Because my husband and I have decided to downsize to about the same size as your original home and live with solar power and heating. We will be doing this in 5 years when the kids go off to college. So when I found your thread I was excited to read it and was inspired. Watching the home come to life and how excited you were. One photo you posted of yourself watching your grandson play was so peaceful and moving, I thought thats how I want it to be for me. Then the problems started and the emotions kicked in for me on your behalf. Now I just started to read your new thread and I am in total awe of you and your strength. You are someone I wish I knew in real life. You have a wonderful soul and an inspiring nature. I hope I get to know you. Thank you for sharing yourself.
