Shed from Carolina Yard Barns
Our backyard slopes quite a bit. There is a 5 ' tall retaining wall that runs the entire width of the lot. This creates what we refer to as the "upper yard" and the "lower yard". Not ideal, but we've tried to make the best of it. Because the storage shed is so visible from the screened porch, deck, and family room, we wanted it to look less utilitarian. Carolina Yard Barns is happy to customize. They added 2' overhangs, brackets, a real entry door, decorative window, single hung window with shutters, and a cupola (actually serves as ventilation too). The side walls are 8' tall, the roof has a steeper pitch which allows for overhead storage, the siding is hardiplank, and the roof has dimensional shingles. After the shed was built, we decided to add a foundation to finish it off. Wish we had thought of this ahead of time and done the foundation first! Due to the slope of the lot, the back of the shed is about 4' off the ground. With the shed just sitting on block piers, it looked unfinished so we had a mason come in and do a foundation.
